Fantasia, For Real...

The blogs has been going HAM on the expense of Fantasia. Sad, but true. Society loves negativity. When you're at your weakest moment, when all your drama is out, when vicious lies and rumors are unstoppable is when the media is at it's happiest. And it truly is sad that the media actually captalizes on the demise of someone else.

I can relate to Fantasia on so many levels, and in so many ways. I myself have endured public humiliation, ( of course not on such a greater scale), but my pain was broadcasted on my entire college campus. And considering my undergrad is in the top 3 biggest schools list, the audience was big enough!

Her recent suicide attempt has been the latest subject of the traumatized soul singer. I, too, "wanted out". At one point in my life, I wanted it all to be done with...even to the point that I, too attempted suicide. How does a person get to that point? I'll tell you. It's when they lose hope, they lose all faith and feels as if this is it. It's nothing to live for anymore, so death feels like peace. I have been to that point, but thank you Jesus, I am a living testimony.

I know what it feels like to hit rock bottom. I know what it feels like to have people talk about me, betray me, lie to me, embarass me, down me, and enjoy my downfall. I know how it feels, and it is not a good feeling.

Watching her exclusive interview after her whole suicide fiasco, I became slightly emotional and actually connected to her. At one point, she began to tear up until the tears couldn't help but fall on her cheeks. I actually felt her pain, I understood her. I hung onto almost every word because I can relate to every one of them.

My prayers are with Fantasia. Regardless of the facts of her alleged and highly publicized affair with a married man, to love and to loose is a beating to the heart. My heart was connected to a man I loved more than myself for over a year after our seperation. Loving somebody who could actually care less about you freakin` hurt. Hurt like hell. But thank you God for healing. Now, I can share my story with the world to show the glory of God. And I bet that Fantasias story will, too. In fact, I know it will. Even angels learn how to fly...all you have to do is try.

Look out for Angela's highly anticipated book,

Making Progress...

I am not where I am supposed to be, but Thank God I'm not where I used to be!

Thank God for progress!!

Thank God for growth, vision, clarity, and perfected destiny!

I just spent the last 4 hours in the computer lab handling. my. business. I got so much accomplished, I feel so good that I made progress. Each day that passes is one step closer to my dreams. Yayyy, me! Lol

Sometimes I find myself doubting myself, coming down on myself. But I realized that I am exactly where I am supposed to be! God is guiding my every step, my every movement. I know that I can do nothing without Him, so I lean on Him and come to Him first and foremost to lead me on my way.

I encourage you to not look at what you have not accomplished, or what has yet to be done, but look at your successes! Look at how far you have come! Look at how much you've been through, and realize that you survived!!!!!!!!!! Hahahaha, take that, take that *In my Diddy voice and shiny suit*.

Whatever life throws at me I'm gonna throw it right back! I'm about my business! And when God is for me, who on earth can be against me?

Life is Just Too Short!

First of all, Happy Belated Mothers` Day!!!!!!! As a fellow mother, I want to let every hard working, `bout they business, fabulous, independent mothers know that you are appreciated, and you are doing a great job! That's me and my little prince!

Lately, I have been thinking about how precious life is, and how the people I love mean soooo much to me. I am re-realizing what is important out of life, and just how much I tend to "sweat the small stuff". Every other night you see on the news how young people are dying, sometimes by ignoract acts of violence, and sometimes just dropping dead. My uncle passed away 2 months ago, cause unknown, he was just sitting on his couch when he suddenly start to grasp for air, grabbing at his heart. Never knowing that very moment would be his last.

I am determined, and I mean determined, to live life to the absolute FULLEST! I will no longer live with limitations. I am determined not to let anything, or anyone take my joy, to make me sad. It is just not worth it! The things that families and friends fight over are oftentimes so petty, that it's not even worth energy. Life is too short to carry any guilt or grudges.

I encourage everyone reading this to call and ask for forgiveness with anyone who you have done wrong by.

I encourage everyone reading this is forgive anyone who has done wrong by you.

I encourage everyone reading this to forgive THEMSELVES.

I encourage everyone to smile longer, laugh harder, and float, not walk through this precious time God has allowed us to be here. There is someone who had plans for today, but did not wake up. Every moment you have on this earth is so precious. I promise myself that whatever this life tries to throw at me, I will successfully conquer, for God tells us that we are more than conquerers! I promise myself to wear my smile as a second skin; always glowing, always bringing joy to the next person, for you do not know what they may be going through.

Below is a confidence poem from the book "The Secret". It encourages me everyday to love, live and laugh.

It reads:

I PROMISE MYSELF
To be so strong that nothing can disturb my peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person I meet.
To make all my friends feel that there is something worth while in them.
To look at the sunny side of everything and make my optimism come true.
To think only of the best, to work only for the best
and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of
others as I am about my own.
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the
greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful expression at all times and give a smile
to every living creature I meet.
To give so much time to improving myself that I
have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear,
and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
To think well of myself and to proclaim this fact to the world,
not in loud word, but in great deeds.
To live in the faith that the whole world is on my side,
so long as I am true to the best that is in me.

Dream Board

We all have dreams. We all have those childhood fantasies that followed us from our innocent childhoods; though some varied, changed, or just flat out lost our interest. As a grown woman, one dream of mine still remains the same. Being successful. Drake and Trey Songz sang it best, as success if something I believe everyone wants to achieve.

But despite everyones strong willed desire for betterment and achievement, not everyone definition of success is the same. My definition of success may differ from yours, and vice versa. And that is a critical statement in planning your goals, executing the path to them, and successfully maintaining them. Never should you compare what you want out of life to another, who knows what their journey is like. You will probably never know, not to mention the risk of trying to find out.

My personal definition of success is happiness. Happiness and fulfillment in every area of my life. Every area;
including my finances, relationship with God, relationship with myself (I am my own best friend), relationship with family and friends, career, social life, career, education, the list goes on.

A avid fan of inspirational Christian literature, a "dream board" has been a term I have stumbled across too many times to ignore. A "dream board" is a board composed of all the things you want to accomplish, receive and/or do. A collage, composed of your life's personal dreams. After it is completed, you can hang it by your mirror in your bedroom, or in the bathroom, or by the front door of your home, to serve as a reminder of what your purpose is. Here are a few examples of a Dream Board.

Here are a few examples of what is on MY dream board!

Growing Closer to God everyday of my life. My relationship with Him is the only one that really matters.

I will launch on very own foundation, "Daughters of the King", geared and catering to young minority girls in the urban areas of the country. Founded on empowerment, love, and God, my foundation will encourage, and inspire girls to greatness!

Currently in production, my first published book will be finished, and available for retail THIS SUMMER! Thank you God for vision and annointing! And you will be the first to know!

And a convertible wouldn't hurt either! Nothing like driving in downtown Chicago, wind through your hair and the pedal to the metal on those summer 80 degree nights with the city engulfing you. Make you feel like you made it.

When I am 100% fulfilled in all of the above areas, to me, I AM SUCCESSFUL. I do not need the latest and greatest runway fashions, the speediest car, roomest house, or a dozen of friends constantly surrounding me for validation. God told me to stop trying to fit in, when He made me to stand out. When my relationship with God is in good standing, each day that passes we grow closer together, nothing can take my joy. The world did not give it to me, so the world can not take it away.

What would be on your Dream Board? I encourage you to make one, and even upload it. I'd love to see it! You never know who will draw inspiration from you.

Goapele- Closer
**This songs never fails to make me feel better. Every day is one step closer, though that step may be small, it is one less step to my destiny.

God Has Been So Good To Me!

Alrightly folks, your reading this through a computer, but I wish you could see the smile on my face! Ha ha! I'm joyful peoples!!! Not happy, because happy is a feeling, and as we all know, feelings change. I am joyful! God has been working with me and I am so grateful to know that I'm on His mind! Yes, the God who made the sun, the moon, and the stars, the one who clothed the lillies of the land, and the one who wrote the songs for the birds to sing! He is thinking about me, wants me to do good, wants to bless me abundantly, and wants to exault me! Amen!

What more can I say? I can say that I have come a long, long, long, long, long, long, (your not gonna make me type the word long out a million times are you?), (ok, thanx!), a long time have I come darnit! I look back on where I used to be and sometimes I cry. I cry out of sadness, I cry of guiltiness, I cry for the happy memories that I had. And its crazy because all these emotions are opposite, so sometimes I cry and dont even know what for after awhile!

I have been taught so much about life, people, God and myself. I learned how strong I really am. I learned that I am not perfect, and I have a lot to learn. I am growing at a rapid rate, and I'm taking no prisoners! I'm finally loving life. i'm finally, as people in the streets say...doin' me. I'm doing what makes me smile. I'm investing in my brillance! Muahhhhhh, ha,ha, ha, ha.............hm, um, ha. So uh, yeah.

I thank God for the deep waters I went through. They were not meant to drown me anyway, but to cleanse me. I have been born again, and I have started all over again! I am so excited about my future, God has so much for me!

My foundation, Daughters of the King is launching in January 2010, and my book will be published this year. My birthday is in January, I'm starting a new year, in anew city with a new frame of mind and ways of thinking! I thank God for picking me. I thank God for choosing me, a wretch who is nothing and less than nothing. I can not tell you enough how good God has been to me.

I am blessed, and HIGHLY FAVORED. This world is mine for the taking! If you dont want to be apart of it, at least you get to witness. Right?

Are You Happy?

Ok everyone, random thoughts. Today it was a beautiful day, the sun was shining and I was with my family. Being with my family always make me happy! I'm surrounded by love, with people I know care so much for me. I read a quote somewhere that said, "The only people I need in my life are the people who need me in theirs." Deep, huh? But oh so freaking true! Lol

Today I found myself laughing and smiling more. I walked with my head held high, with a swag unlike any other. Confident aint the word, honey! But it was a walk of humbleness, a unique closeness with my Creator. Because I know where He brought my from, making me appreciate errthang! Not everything, errthang!

So my question to you is, Are you happy? If not, why? Whats stopping your happiness? Your internal joy? What stops you from smiling? I been there, but I am determined ladies and gents to be happy. It's a daily job, sometimes hourly! But I am determined to smile, to be happy beyond all measure! Life is too short. My joy comes from Christ. Nobody on this earth gave me my joy, so nobody can take it away! And the church say, Amen! Preach, I say, preach onnnn! Lol

Some days are easier than others. Sometimes I have to force myself to look at the bright side of my day because evil thoughts of my past attempt to bring me down. And sometimes they do get the best of me. I remember when I used to have to go to the bathroom and cry it all out. It was actually cleansing for me. But I'm working more on myself more than ever. I will leave this earth fully satisfied!

And guess what, my journey has just begun.

You Are Now Rocking With the Best! My Introduction

Heyyyyy everybody in web land! I've been wanting to start a blog for since like, years ago, but never got around to it. But nevertheless, I'm here! This blog is for me, to express whats going on in and around me. Hopefully there's women out here who can relate to me. My struggles, my joys, my highs and my lows. I'm looking to inspire. I'm looking to share my story and testimony of where I been, and where god has brought me!

I'm building my empire!!! (Muahh-ha-ha-ha!). The year of 2010 is the start of my empire. I'm an now fearless. I'm going after everything that I wanted, and everything that I procrastinated about. Everything that I put off, I'm now doing! I'm so proud of myself!

Since 2007 I been trying to write my book, I am now almost finished typing it, and by the end of the year I want it to be done, complete, polished and spit-shined, at the doorstep of every publisher in America. In January I'm launching, "Daughters of the King", it's a Christian ministry for young minority women to promote sisterhood, growth, self-value, and a relationship with Jesus Christ. Oh yes, watch me fly, folks!

Coming to you live, well not live but you know what I mean!, from Chicago, Illinois life is gggrrreeeattttt! From the hoods of East Cleveland, to Columbus, Ohio to Chicago, Illinois my journey has been filled with tears. Tears of joy, tears of pain, tears of happiness and tears of hurt. But I've come along way, and it's all because of Jesus! He gets all my glory and praise honey! You betta recognize!

So through my blog, Miss Thang in the City, I'll be talking about everything from fashion, to spirituality, to men, to shoes, and everything else that affects African American women, really women in general even tho I believe we sistas have a bond (though some "sistas" dont care too much for it, but I digress :)).

I want to you to enjoy my journey and chirp in! I want to hear from you. Advice, comments, feedbacks, even criticisms. I"m open, and I"m free.

Hello, everyone. My name is Angela Wilson, and I'm a child of God.
