Fantasia, For Real...

The blogs has been going HAM on the expense of Fantasia. Sad, but true. Society loves negativity. When you're at your weakest moment, when all your drama is out, when vicious lies and rumors are unstoppable is when the media is at it's happiest. And it truly is sad that the media actually captalizes on the demise of someone else.

I can relate to Fantasia on so many levels, and in so many ways. I myself have endured public humiliation, ( of course not on such a greater scale), but my pain was broadcasted on my entire college campus. And considering my undergrad is in the top 3 biggest schools list, the audience was big enough!

Her recent suicide attempt has been the latest subject of the traumatized soul singer. I, too, "wanted out". At one point in my life, I wanted it all to be done with...even to the point that I, too attempted suicide. How does a person get to that point? I'll tell you. It's when they lose hope, they lose all faith and feels as if this is it. It's nothing to live for anymore, so death feels like peace. I have been to that point, but thank you Jesus, I am a living testimony.

I know what it feels like to hit rock bottom. I know what it feels like to have people talk about me, betray me, lie to me, embarass me, down me, and enjoy my downfall. I know how it feels, and it is not a good feeling.

Watching her exclusive interview after her whole suicide fiasco, I became slightly emotional and actually connected to her. At one point, she began to tear up until the tears couldn't help but fall on her cheeks. I actually felt her pain, I understood her. I hung onto almost every word because I can relate to every one of them.

My prayers are with Fantasia. Regardless of the facts of her alleged and highly publicized affair with a married man, to love and to loose is a beating to the heart. My heart was connected to a man I loved more than myself for over a year after our seperation. Loving somebody who could actually care less about you freakin` hurt. Hurt like hell. But thank you God for healing. Now, I can share my story with the world to show the glory of God. And I bet that Fantasias story will, too. In fact, I know it will. Even angels learn how to fly...all you have to do is try.

5 Things I Wish I Knew When I Was 18

As we mature, we look back over our young tender years and realize all the mistakes we've made. Hindsight is ALWAYS 20/20; and it is so funny how AFTER the fact you realize all the red flags. AFTER the fact you see now what you should have saw then. But the trouble is not in making mistakes, it is in not learning from them. Test are always repeated until the lesson is learned. If you continue to fail God's test, you will repeat it until you get the message, learn the lesson, and do better next time. Making mistakes is the only way to grow, emotionally, spiritually, and mentally. At least you know now not to make that same mistake again; labeling yourself as "insane" (trying the same thing repeatedly expecting a different result).

At 24 years old, there was some things mama just could not teach me. The best teacher is this little thing called, Life. Showing me the good, the bad, and the ugly. No amount of lectures, screaming or berating could keep me from doing what I wanted to do! And as I have gotten older, there were just some things I wished I would have listen to...

1.) A man is not chase worthy.

Ladies, we are not in the business of trying to keep a man who don't want to be kept (Poetic Justice, holla!) By nature a man is a hunter, he has the mentally to chase, hunt, and go after what he wants. The man in all cases should be chasing YOU! For you are the prize! If a man wants you, please believe he will SHOW you. A man will go after what he wants, and it will be clear, no doubts, no questions. He will actually make the effort to show his interest, and to follow through. And guess what, if he is not doing that, he is just not that into you! Period. You don't have to convince anyone to be with you. And I am sure you don't want someone who needs convincing.

2.) Credit really does matter.

Okay, so I am in the mood to get a new car for graduation! (And the church says, Amen!). First thing my mom asked me about was my credit. My first response was, "My huh? Come again?!" I had no idea how important credit really is! Your finances are so important, it effects everything you do! A FICO score 499 and less means, yep, you guessed it, you got bad credit homie! But there are many ways to prevent this from occuring. First, stop living above your means! If you are spending more money than you are making, you should take a serious look at what you are spending on, how often, and why. Impulsive buys, much? Do you really need your third pair of black pumps? Are you spending your electric bill money on an outfit for Saturday night? It is all about priorities.
When I receive any monies, my order of payments are as follows..
1.) Church Tithes/Offering
I pay 10% of WHATEVER I receive to God, FIRST. My job is NOT my source, He is. He provides for me everything that I need.
2.) Rent
It's pretty nice having a roof over your head, huh? It is so nice to have a place to call home. My home. I pay my rent, on time, and sometimes in advance because if I have nothing else to call my own, I have a place to go home to.
3.) Savings Account
After I pay the church and rent, I pay MYSELF. I put a minimum 10% in my savings account for a rainy day, future down payment, emergencies, etc.
4.) Other Bills
Electric, Phone, Cable...in that order. Priorities!
5.) Other Expenses
This includes money for gas, prescriptions, or any other expense that is a NEED that I may need to spend on throughout the month.
6.) Fun Money!
Now with fun money, you can either save it, buy Starbucks, or shop. This is pocket money that you choose to do with, AFTER you have completed 1-5.
If you have credit cards, be sure to pay them on time. That is so imperative, as your credit reflects what you DON'T do more than what you DO.
3.) Self Love, First Love

You are the only one who is with you all day, everyday. You should be your own best friend; you should enjoy your own company more than anyone elses. Many times we find surround ourselves with people to validate us, to give us a stamp of approval. There is no reason to when God, is our true bestie, in that midnight hour and all throughout our busy, stressful workdays.

4.) Those That Matter Dont' Mind, Those That Mind Don't Matter.
Folks, it's time to take some personal inventory! Look around you, look in your contacts, and delete all the people who are causing you more misery than happiness...right now. *Waits* Now that you have that completed, you must realize how precious you are, and how valuable your friendship is! Only people who are positive, doing productive things in there life, doing it "betta and betta and betta" (shoutout Katt Williams!) with each passing years are allowed to befriend you. When you see better, you do better! If you are around slackers, who could care less, negative energy can transfer over to you. You need people who will inspire you, motivate you for better, not someone who goes backwards or stands still.
5.) Stop Questioning Everything and Trust God!

When I was 18, I wish I trusted God more. I wished I looked to Him more, had a deeper relationship with Him. I wish I would have surrendered to His perfect will. I wish I stopped questioning everything, I wish I would not have tried so hard, I wish I would have been so stubborn, I wish I did not cling to things God himself was trying to take away. I wish I paid attention to red flags and all God's warning signs.

I wish I knew Him better when I was 18.

But thankyou Lord, now He has me right where He wants me! Living with purpose, overflowing joy, unfair favor, and testimony to share, God is teaching me who He is. I noticed the hand of God in my past situations, even though I did not see them.

WHAT DO YOU WISH YOU WOULD HAVE KNOWN AT 18?
(I'D LOVE TO HEAR YOUR RESPONSES! :) )

And This Is Only The Beginning...

I know I have been missing in action but do not fret, I'm baaccckkkkk!!!! Life has been so busy and God has been so good! Everyday God shows me who He is. Everyday God gently, but with conviction lets me know that He is God, and not I. That it is HE who is in control, and not I. Every passing hour I grow more grateful for who He is to me, and His undeserving love and mercy toward a wretch like me. He allows me to understand the situations that have occured in my past; they were all stepping stones to my destiny.

Where are you stepping? Forwards? Backwards? Or are you standing still? Are you just floating through life? Taking life as it give it to you? Are you trusting in God? Are you resting in His overwhelming love? His loving arms that never fails you, even when your wrong?

God revealed to me that this is JUST the beginning. I look at how far I have come, and it is utterly unspeakable how good God is, how far He's brought me, how good He is in my life! And this is just the start!

I GOT BAPTISED THIS WEEKEND!, and it was one of the most powerful, spiritual, emotional moments I have ever experienced! As I was dumped in the water, the swishing and swashing of the water against my body, I thought about the death and resurrection of our God. He took me to a deeper level with Him. Thank you God.

And this is only the beginning... I am so ready! Are you? Are you ready for God to take you to a higher level? Are you ready for your upgrade?

Everything is in Perfect Order

This is such a beautiful painting that I had to share it. Everyday I notice how even the slightest thing is happens, does not happen the perfect way it should or shouldn't. With God, there is no such thing as a coincidence. Nothing is by chance, or luck, or a rabbits foot. But my grace and God's favor. Everything about us is perfectly molded, just the way God intended. No mistakes, no blemishes, no mishaps, only perfection in the making. I am a child of God, a woman with a supernatural advantage. A woman who God's favor is upon. Daily He's molding me, teaching me, guiding me, loving me, flaws and all, drawing me closer to Him. Allow God to mold you. Some things may need stripped from our lives, and it's probably something we do not want to let go. Allow God to work in your life like He has now, He will never let you down.

God Has Been So Good To Me!

Alrightly folks, your reading this through a computer, but I wish you could see the smile on my face! Ha ha! I'm joyful peoples!!! Not happy, because happy is a feeling, and as we all know, feelings change. I am joyful! God has been working with me and I am so grateful to know that I'm on His mind! Yes, the God who made the sun, the moon, and the stars, the one who clothed the lillies of the land, and the one who wrote the songs for the birds to sing! He is thinking about me, wants me to do good, wants to bless me abundantly, and wants to exault me! Amen!

What more can I say? I can say that I have come a long, long, long, long, long, long, (your not gonna make me type the word long out a million times are you?), (ok, thanx!), a long time have I come darnit! I look back on where I used to be and sometimes I cry. I cry out of sadness, I cry of guiltiness, I cry for the happy memories that I had. And its crazy because all these emotions are opposite, so sometimes I cry and dont even know what for after awhile!

I have been taught so much about life, people, God and myself. I learned how strong I really am. I learned that I am not perfect, and I have a lot to learn. I am growing at a rapid rate, and I'm taking no prisoners! I'm finally loving life. i'm finally, as people in the streets say...doin' me. I'm doing what makes me smile. I'm investing in my brillance! Muahhhhhh, ha,ha, ha, ha.............hm, um, ha. So uh, yeah.

I thank God for the deep waters I went through. They were not meant to drown me anyway, but to cleanse me. I have been born again, and I have started all over again! I am so excited about my future, God has so much for me!

My foundation, Daughters of the King is launching in January 2010, and my book will be published this year. My birthday is in January, I'm starting a new year, in anew city with a new frame of mind and ways of thinking! I thank God for picking me. I thank God for choosing me, a wretch who is nothing and less than nothing. I can not tell you enough how good God has been to me.

I am blessed, and HIGHLY FAVORED. This world is mine for the taking! If you dont want to be apart of it, at least you get to witness. Right?
